The Miracle Morning: 30 Day Life Transformation Challenge

This book The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8 A.M.) has been going strong in the Bullet Journal community for quite some time.  In fact, it was one book I contemplated reading when I first started bullet journaling back in the beginning of 2016.

I’ll be honest though, I often have a hard time reading these “self-help” books because they focus a lot on YOU being able to accomplish anything and everything.  For me, statements like that seem very far fetched because I know that I can accomplish nothing apart from Jesus Christ; so I put off reading this book until last week when I noticed it was a part of Kindle Unlimited, and I would be able to read it for “free” as a part of my subscription.

It took me two days to get through the book, and I have to say I was really impressed. I set my alarm the next day to begin my Miracle Morning and headed right to the website to get the free resources to start my 30 day challenge.  But since I started this last week, I’ve only completed 4 semi-successful Miracle Mornings.  I probably set myself up for a little bit of failure, because I jumped right in with out a plan… BIG MISTAKE.

So I decided I would take this last week in April to plan, and start May 1 on this 30 (well… since May has 31 days) 31 day challenge. Where does one plan this?… IN THE BULLET JOURNAL!

Step 1: Read the Book.

It really is a short, easy to read book.  And right now it’s a part of Kindle Unlimited, so if you’re a subscriber you can read it for FREE!  If you’re skeptical, as I was, about self-help books, keep an open mind.  This was something I did throughout the book, and it really helped when I was faced with something that seemed “too good too be true…”

Step 2: Download the free resources for the 30 day transformation challenge

Head over to The Miracle Morning website and download the 30 day challenge worksheets.  I found the questions and resources in these few pages even more helpful than the book (so if you’re not really a reader you’ll be able to start right here without a problem!) In this packet of information, you’ll find the Level 10 Life that is oh-so-popular.

Most Level 10 Life spreads have the Level 10 Life graph or chart (right page) and then Level 10 Goals.  I’ll expand more on this below, but I see my goals as the visualization step (hence the “be thou my vision” quote on that page – that is one of my favorite hymns, and with God as my vision, I can accomplish anything He wants.)

NOTE: for the family and friends reading this and noticing “significant other” rated at 2 – I’m still single… don’t worry, I just know the value of preparation – so in this case I’m rating my preparation.

Step 3: Test the life S.A.V.E.R.S. to see what works … and what doesn’t

The Life S.A.V.E.R.S. are what make up your Miracle Morning.

Silence, Affirmation, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, Scribing.  The book goes into detail about what each one can look like.  But here’s what I’m planning to do for each.

SILENCE: Write in my prayer journal, making note to pause and listen for God’s leading and prompting.

AFFIRMATION: All of my affirmations have a God-focus.  Apart from Him, I am unable to accomplish things.

VISUALIZATION: As I touched on above, these are my goals for each of the 10 areas of life that are part of the Level 10 goals.  I color coded my goals on the left page to correspond to the graph on the right page.  I’ll probably end up doing a whole post on this at some point this month.

EXERCISE: I’m the worlds worst person to stick to any sort of exercise, I’m so lazy.  But I’ve been finding that since yoga “seems” easy it’s working out pretty good, so this is generally my form of exercising.  I highly recommend Yoga with Adrienne on youtube.

READING: I spend my reading portion doing my devotions, reading my Bible or a devotional book.  I generally spend 15 to 30 minutes doing this, depending on how much time I have.

SCRIBING: This is journaling.  For the time being I’m using the Day One app for iPhone.  But i’ve just DIY’d a travelers notebook style cover for my bullet journal, so I’ll likely be swiping to writing this out soon.

Step 4: Customize Your Miracle Morning.

Next, you customize the Miracle Morning to make it what you want it to be.  Here’s what mine looks like:

  1. Alarm clock: 6 A.M. I actually sleep in my workout clothes, so I don’t even need to get dressed when the alarm goes off.  Then I brush my teeth, and if I’m not too lazy I’ll go downstairs and drink a full glass of water.
  2. Silence: I spend 10-15 minutes writing in my prayer journal and praying to God.
  3. Reading: My Bible study.  I’ve been reading a proverb a day for right now.
  4. Scribing: Journaling about the day before, things that I read during my Bible study.
  5. Exercise: Yoga
  6. Affirmations: I read the page in my bullet journal
  7. Visualization: I go over my goal, and assess how I can work on them today.
  8. Shower & Get ready for work.

So there you have it.  My Miracle Morning plan.  We shall see how the daily progress goes.  Staring May 2nd (tomorrow) I plan to post daily on the blog about my progress.

Stay addicted Bullet Journal-Aholics.

  1. So before I even saw this post, I had started my own version of a “miracle morning”…and I didn’t even know about the book, etc. I was tired of not having dedicated time with the Lord before my littles wake up. So I started waking up 30 minutes earlier…and I started May 1 too!
