I love the versatility of a travelers notebook system. Before I found bullet Journaling, I used a Midori for a time, but I just couldn’t get that to work for me. Glad for that since Bullet Journaling has quite honestly changed my life.
I wanted to be able to have my bullet journal for planning, my prayer journal and then other journals as needed with me at all times. Then the possibilities are endless with dashboards and other inserts. I was hooked. But in my search the cheapest option I could find was close to $100. YIKES!
I wanted to cry. So I took to YouTube to see if this would be something easy to DIY and sure enough… IT IS!!
This cover I made cost me about $22 to make. And it looks (and smells) almost exactly like my Midori.
How to DIY this Travelers Notebook
1. I purchased this leather on amazon. It was one piece that I assumed I would need to trim down, based on the measurements for the $100 ones I had been looking at. It measures 8.7″x 14.1″. And cost just over $20. But as I laid it out to make it, I realized it didn’t have that much extra room and decided to just leave it, especially since I’ll be using it for the Leuchtturm1917 journal. This allows the journal to fit comfortably inside.
2. Next I watched this video for how to cut the holes and string the elastic. The string I used is just basic black elastic string I got from JoAnnes for about $2.
3. Then I added the closure string to the middle of the spine.
